A Unit That Defines Space
A Chunk is the fundamental unit used to organize and manage space within a world in Akkadia. If a Realm (World) represents a complete world, a Chunk can be understood as a spatial segment that divides that world into manageable areas. The scope in which players explore, modify, and expand a world is ultimately defined at the Chunk level, and Akkadia’s worlds grow progressively as these Chunks accumulate over time.

Scope and Expansion
In Akkadia, Chunks are not merely a technical subdivision but a core concept that connects world structure to player experience. A Chunk clearly defines how far a world extends, which areas are currently available, and where the boundaries of interaction lie. Through this structure, Akkadia’s worlds feel less like infinitely open spaces and more like meaningful environments that expand step by step as players engage with them.
Activated and Inactive Areas
Not all Chunks are available in the same way at all times. Akkadia distinguishes between activated and inactive Chunks as a core part of its world structure. Activated Chunks are areas where players can place blocks and modify space, while inactive Chunks remain part of the world but do not yet allow lasting changes. This distinction is not simply about access control, but about clearly expressing progression, ownership, and the staged expansion of a world.

Experiencing Growth
This structure allows players to intuitively understand the current scope of a world and to experience its growth over time. A world may begin within a limited area, but as additional Chunks are activated, it gradually opens into larger spaces that support more ambitious structures and designs. Rather than expanding endlessly by default, Chunks provide a framework in which creative space is unlocked step by step and meaningful changes can persist.
From Chunk to Block
