Block

World Structure

Realm (World) → Chunk → Block → Player

The Core Unit of Interaction

A Block is the most fundamental unit through which players directly interact with the world in Akkadia. If Chunks define where change is possible, Blocks define what players can actually create, modify, and leave behind within those boundaries. Every action that shapes space—constructing structures, configuring environments, or placing functional elements—happens through Blocks, and Akkadia’s worlds take form through their accumulation.

Building the World

In Akkadia, a Block is not a decorative tile or background element. It is the smallest building material of the world and the medium through which player intent is expressed. A single Block becomes part of a space, multiple Blocks form structures, and those structures create places that can be explored and experienced. In this sense, Blocks function as the language of the world and the primary material through which creation takes place.

Ownership and Identity

Blocks are not merely placed objects; they can carry clear notions of ownership and responsibility. In Akkadia, Blocks are managed through on-chain state and can be associated with specific players as their owners. This allows the world to preserve authorship—who built what, where changes originated, and how the world has evolved over time. As a result, Blocks can be understood not only as components of space, but as distinct entities with identity inside the world.

Beyond Placement

The role of a Block goes beyond simple placement. Blocks may hold functionality, respond to interaction, and exist as meaningful objects within the world. Over time, Blocks can also imply the potential for transfer or exchange, allowing player creations to hold independent value. This extensibility ensures that Akkadia’s worlds do not remain static, but continue to evolve through player-driven activity and interaction.

From Block to Player

If Blocks are the smallest unit that enables change within a world, Players are the agents who create that change. The next page explores how Players use Blocks to participate in Akkadia’s worlds, and how their actions accumulate to give those worlds lasting meaning.
